The Mouse and I
03:11

Another winter morning,
And I wake up feelin' old.
I know I’m not as old as some,
I know that’s what I’m told,
But I still feel the rust is creepin’ in,
As a mouse creeps through a hole,
And pisses in the ceiling of my
old world childhood home.
So after gettin' tired,
Of mouse piss in my nose,
I dig up an old pair of traps,
The kind with metal bones,
I can’t keep buying bread to fill,
A little mouse's soul:
One more, Mark,
and I feel I’m getting old.
A mouse is free, a mouse is free,
To go and piss wherever they may please,
They did it in my ceiling
and left droppings like falling leaves,
But how can I abide that rodent?
Eating here for free?
Eating all the food
that I bought for me.
I woke up the next morning,
And checked on what I set,
I didn’t expect to find a mouse,
But instead I found one dead
and I just stood and stared in disbelief,
I didn’t think it’d be
Well, just that easy.
I thought about the times that I've
eaten in life for free,
And I thought about the kindest folks
The ones that would feed me
and all the change I got from busking,
dirty pennies in the street,
And realized that mouse is me..
And yeah it’s me, that mouse is me
and I will piss wherever I may please.
If you’re leaving traps for me
to bring me to my knees,
Well you have got the food inside,
And you have got the heat.
So I will live inside your house's walls
And piss wherever I please.
And I won’t be the only one,
There’s millions just like me.
And we will not be pushed away,
We won’t accept defeat
because the cold kills more than you can
and the world is waking up.
Millions of people are being kind,
And telling you to *shut the fuck up.*
We’ll burrow through your house's walls,
and curl up in the heat.
And I will piss wherever I may please.
And I will piss wherever I may please.
It'll start with piss but it'll bring you to your knees.
I wish I could tell that mouse that:
I’m sorry

Ship in a Bottle

Sitting in the van,
drinking Bluebird right from the bottle,
Fire’s outside,
And a party like a masquerade,
I am sitting here,
Like the eye inside a hurricane,
Finding empty holes again,
Filling them with rum and distant thunder.
Through two walls and a van door I am
Feeling far from anything,
Ironically I’m closer than I’ve
been in years to you.
You don’t know that I’m here
and if I get to have my way that will
never change it'll stay that way and
I’ll drink myself to sleep,
And far away from here,
As my pirates drink their rum well I will
Leave her Johnny, leave her,
Oh, leave her Johnny, leave her,
For the voyage is done and the winds don’t blow,
And it’s time for us to leave her
Clutch the neck of glass
as the rings are shining by the fire,
Take another swig
and feel my problems burn away,
Layin' in the corner,
A husky puppy for a parrot,
As Crimespree plays Parasite,
And it fills me with love and distant thunder,
Through two walls and a van door I am
feeling far from anything,
Ironically I’m closer than I’ve
been in years to you.
You don’t know that I’m here and if I
get to have my way that will
never change it'll stay that way,
and I’ll drink myself to sleep,
And far away from here,
Well as my pirates drink their rum well I will
Leave her Johnny, leave her,
Oh, leave her Johnny, leave her,
For the voyage is done and the winds don't blow,
And it’s time for us to leave her.
Leave her Johnny, leave her,
Oh, leave her Johnny, leave her,
For the voyage is done and the winds don't blow,
And it’s time for us to leave her.

Well the wicked King of Clubs awoke,
It was to his Queen he turned,
His lips were laughing as they spoke,
His eyes like bullets burned,
The sun's upon a gambling day,
Queen smiled low and blissfully,
"Let's make some wretched fool to play,"
Plain it was she did agree.
He sent his Deuce down to Diamond,
His Four to Heart, and his Trey to Spade,
Three Kings with the legions come,
And preparations soon where made,
They voted Club the days commander,
Gave him an army face and number,
All but the outlaw Jack of Diamonds,
And the Aces in the sky!
Well, he gave his Sevens first instructions,
"Spirit me a game of stud,"
Stakes unscarred by limitation,
Between a man named Gold and man named Mudd,
Gold filled with greedy vapors,
Till his long green eyes did glow,
And Mudd was left with sighs and trembles,
Watched his hard earned money go,
Flushes fell on Gold like water,
Tens that paired and paired again,
But Aces only flew through heaven,
Diamond Jack called no man friend.
Diamond Queen saw Mudd's ordeal,
Began to think of her long lost son,
Fell to her knees with a mother's mercy,
Prayed to the angels, every one.
Now, the Diamond Queen, she prayed and prayed,
And the Diamond Angel filled Mudd's hole,
The wicked King of Clubs himself,
Fell face down in front of Gold,
Now three Kings come to Clubs command,
But the angels in the sky did ride!
Three Kings on the streets of Gold,
Three fireballs on the Muddy side,
Club Queen heard her husband's call,
But lord, the Queen of Diamond's joy,
When the outlaw in the heavenly hall,
Turned out to be her wandering boy,
Now: Mudd he checked, and Gold bet all,
And Mudd he raised, and Gold did call,
The smile melted on his face,
When Mudd turned over that diamond Ace!
Now, here's where the story's told,
If you feel like Mudd you'll end up gold,
If you feel like lost, you'll end up found,
So amigo, lay them raises
down.

In the event of my untimely death,
I don’t want you to cry,
It’s been unique to make this music,
But it’s not unique to die.
And knowing all my lovely friends,
They’re probably still around,
Shaking heads and saying that
“I wish he’d spent more time around.”
So here friends,
Here is the cure:
As long as I’m still singing, well,
Then death ain’t through my door,
So play this tape, or stream this song,
Or spin this record ‘round.
And if you do that, then I am still around.
Well this is immortality,
Yes this is immortality,
Yes this is immortality for me.
If for some awful reason,
I should leave my Mom behind,
Well tell her that I’m sorry,
She was never far from my mind.
And to my mighty Sister,
I’d never outlive you,
‘Cuz you’re a superhero:
But there was nothing that you could do.
And to that band of pirates,
Raise the bottle up for me.
Take whatcha can, give nothing back,
Keep one eye on the Sea.
And to their valiant Captain,
Well bespoken man was he,
Be good, die never: that’s the plot
Be happy and strong, for me.
So here friends,
This is the cure:
As long as you’re still singing, well,
Then death ain’t through my door,
So play this tape, or stream this song,
Or spin this record ‘round.
And if you do that, then I am still around.
This is immortality,
Yes this is immortality,
Yes this is immortality to me.
This is immortality,
Yes this is immortality,
Yes this is immortality to me.

"So we know it’s time and we know the cost,
and though years and memories are past,
you can stand up now and know it’s true
that I will always be with you,
and in our songs together sing,
we never need lose anything."
